25 years ago my passion for waterfowl and hunting the flooded timber of the White River bottoms began. My brother introduced me to duck hunting and my true passion and love for the mallard was obvious. Not coming from a privileged upbringing hunting public woods was all I knew. There were days in the field when we didn't fire a shot and then there were the days you only dream about.

The history and tradition of duck hunting lead me to the cutdown call. It was interesting to see how hunters would modify the calls to create a louder and raspier sound. Hearing the cutdown blown in the flooded timber proved why they've been trusted by old timers up and down the Mississippi flyway as far back as 1904.
